MES – ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM OF WITCHCRAFT

The new museum (MES – Museo Etnostorico della Stregoneria di Triora) is hosted inside Palazzo Stella and has a strong historical value, especially related to the events happened between 1587 and 1589.

The museum has four sections: 

The first one hosts the esoteric collection named “Pio Breddo”.

The second one presents images of goddesses, spirits and female creatures that remind us of the witch as perceived in the collective consciousness.

The third room introduces us to the plants and their use made by the accused women 

The fourth room shows us the records and documents of the trial, while the voice of Franchetta Borelli, alias Laura Sicignano, tells us about the tortures inflicted to the accused women.
